Description of the Program
The Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) is a field of science that deals with the principles of design, development, installation, operation, and maintenance of just about anything that has movable parts for the benefit of the society and environment.
The BS Mechanical Engineering program comprises of three main disciplines: Mechatronics (Manufacturing, Robotics, Automation, Instrumentation and Control), Thermo-Fluid Sciences, Machine Design and Tribology (Friction, Lubrication and Heat Dissipation). Although each discipline has its own special body of knowledge and engineering tools, they all rely on the same fundamental core principles.
Objectives of the Program
1. To produce quality mechanical engineering graduates with necessary knowledge and skills in basic engineering, planning, design, construction, management and maintenance of various structures.
2. To extend mechanical engineering services such as planning, design, construction and other types of mechanical engineering works to the community.
3. To strengthen linkages with various local, national and international government and non-government agencies.
4. To conduct researches to generate new knowledge, which will address to community problems and contribute to its development.
5. To utilize research outputs to improve community through extension and productive activities.
6. To undertake programs on ecology protection and preservation.
7. To inculcate ethical and desirable habits and attitudes; promote the arts and culture and develop profound sense of social awareness and nationalism.
8. To promote gender equality in the mechanical engineering profession.
